Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee was a hero in a time where the Chinese were stereotyped as railroad workers and meek house servants. He was a genius who was able to synthesize various national martial techniques used in unarmed combat. He was original, creative, and I believe he would have been a great person to know.  “Man, the…

Spin Ice

Monopoles, magnetic forces without a di-pole have been shown to exist in a substance called spin ice. Spin ice is composed of holmium titanate, molecules that have a tetrahedral formation. When corralled, the ions cannot align their spin in one direction leaving the two spins pointing inwards in the tetrahedron. When a magnetic field is…

The shores were lined with castles, cottages hidden in trees, and ancient cities. The cities that we saw were Buda…

I read an article once about a lady who was a devote Christian that made a vow of maintaining her purity until she was married in her church along with many other young girls at the age of 10. She kept her vow of purity and got married when she was older. Being a virgin…

The Value of Silence

Silence and gratitude enable us to hear the voice of God who loves us. “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” – Buddha (563 – 483 B.C.) “See how nature – trees, flowers, grass-grows in silence; see the stars, the moon, and the sun, how they move…

Pain

After thinking of pain management procedures and situations where people experience intense pain, I started to wonder, what determines a person’s pain tolerance? Research shows that it is a variety of factors. Depression and anxiety can make a person more sensitive to pain. Athletes can withstand more pain than people who do not exercise, and…
