Vitas – Opera # 2

My house has been built but I am alone here
The door banged behind my back
An autumn wind is knocking on the window
Crying over me all over again…
Thunderstorm at night and fog in the morning…
The sun has turned completely cold
Old pains are following one another
Let them all get together!

My house has been built but I am alone here
The door banged behind my back
An autumn wind is knocking on the window
Crying over me all over again…
This is Fate and I can’t
Ask anything of Fate!
I just know how the winds
Will be wailing after I’m gone

An official meaning for this song has not been released, but it seems like it is about how sad and alone the speaker feels. He is comparing himself to the cold autumn winds and thunder storms and says that he can not ask why his is lonely and alone because he believes that he is in that situation because of  fate. In the end, he talks about how hard the winds blow inside of himself and how they will be wailing (singing, crying) after he is gone.

I do not believe that the lyrics match the video very well. It appears to be about a merman who discovers that his mysterious love does not have gills. However, I like it because it makes me think about how lyrics could be spoken from a merman’s point of view, as if they were supposed to be a metaphor for his life. I also believe that thus sing was chosen as a song for “Christmas Meetings” holiday show because of its wintery tone.
