The Luna Moth (Actias Luna):

One of these beautiful silk moths landed on my pants leg and stayed there while I was walking early in the morning. It’s wingspan was about 10 cm. or 4 in. across and it was a male. I am not sure why it was there because they are attracted to light and I was wearing drab green pants, but it was really pretty. I let it go as they are short-lived creatures who do not have the necessary mouth parts to eat. They only mate in their adult form

Cicada Killer Wasps (Sphecius speciosus):

This wasp captures a cicada, paralyzes it, brings it back to her burrow, places it in a nest cell, lays eggs in it, and, when the eggs hatch, the grub eats the cicada. These wasps do not kill enough cicadas to be a threat to their population, but have a very efficient way of surviving. They cannot sting a person, but can bite with their large jaws. However, they try not to hurt humans even though they might accept a ride if they are tired and you offer them a lift.

Devil’s Horse (Romalea microptera):

These big black or green and red lined grasshoppers usually eat grass and weeds, but can get into ornamental plants and crops. They can be up to 3 inches long, are sluggish, and do not bite. They just move along eating and breeding.
