This is a film by Christopher Nolan about a man named Leonard Shelby who has anterograde amnesia, which impairs his ability to create memories of facts and events (declarative memory). Leonard develops a system for recalling his memories using hand-written notes, tattoos, and Polaroid photos. He uses this system to take revenge on his wife’s killer.
This movie has many unexpected plot twists, a surprising ending, and it raises a lot of existential questions such as the idea that there is more going on in the world than the head can hold. That is why I like it. It causes one ask oneself the question, how much control do we really have over what happens in our lives?
