Some of my favorite Halloween movies!

1. “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark” – When her Great Aunt dies, famed horror hostess Elvira heads for the uptight New England town of Falwell to claim her inheritance of a haunted house, a witch’s cookbook and a punk rock poodle. But once the stuffy locals get an eyeful of the scream queen’s ample assets, all hell busts out and breaks loose. Can the Madonna Of The Macabre find love with a studly cinema owner, avoid her creepy Great Uncle, titillate the town’s teens and become a Las Vegas dance sensation all without being burned alive at the stake?

2. “Dark Shadows” – An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.

3. “Ju-On: The Grudge” – A mysterious and vengeful spirit marks and pursues anybody who dares enter the house in which it resides.

4. “Beetlejuice” – A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a “bio-exorcist” in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.

5. “Sleepy Hollow” – Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.

6. “The Omen” – An American ambassador learns to his horror that his son is actually the literal Antichrist.

7. “The People Under the Stairs” – Two adults and a juvenile burglar break into a house occupied by a brother and sister and their stolen children and can’t escape.

8. “The Rite” – An American seminary student travels to Italy to take an exorcism course.

9. “The Devil’s Backbone” – After Carlos, a 12-year-old whose father has died in the Spanish Civil War, arrives at an ominous boy’s orphanage he discovers the school is haunted and has many dark secrets that he must uncover.

10. “28 Days Later” – Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.

11. “Zombieland” – A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, and a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the Last Twinkie and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America.

12. “Seven Psychopaths” – A struggling screenwriter inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends kidnap a gangster’s beloved Shih Tzu.

13. “Van Helsing” – The notorious monster hunter is sent to Transylvania to stop Count Dracula who is using Dr. Frankenstein’s research and a werewolf for some sinister purpose.

14. “Brotherhood of the Wolf” – In 18th century France, the Chevalier de Fronsac and his native American friend Mani are sent by the King to the Gevaudan province to investigate the killings of hundreds by a mysterious beast.

15. “The Haunting” – When Eleanor, Theo, and Luke decide to take part in a sleep study at a huge mansion they get more than they bargained for when Dr. Marrow tells them of the house’s ghostly past.

16. “Dark Water” – A mother and daughter, still wounded from a bitter custody dispute, hole up in a run-down apartment building. Adding further drama to their plight, they are targeted by the ghost of former resident.

17. “Dragonfly” – A grieving doctor is being contacted by his late wife through his patients near death experiences.

18. “Lady In White” – Locked in a school closet during Halloween 1962, young Frank witnesses the ghost of a young girl and the man who murdered her years ago. Shortly afterward he finds himself stalked by the killer and is soon drawn to an old house where a mysterious Lady In White lives. As he discovers the secret of the woman he soon finds that the killer may be someone close to him.

19. “A Tale of 2 Sisters” – A family is haunted by the tragedies of deaths within the family.

20. “End of Days” – At the end of the century, Satan visits New York in search of a bride. It’s up to an ex-cop who now runs an elite security outfit to stop him.
